Well well well...long time no see...
In case anybody's still keeping track and checking up on me, here's a quick update. It's been a busy couple of weeks.
Mrs.' work finally finished in Brussels, so we're back in Helsinki. Luckily Mrs. was nice to me and did most of the packing (god, I hate packing!) and the unpacking on the other side. Now there are a couple of boxes left with my stuff in them, and my mission for this evening is to try and get them under control (Mrs. is out with some old friends, so it's just me and the dog. And the new big screen TV. I wonder how much work I'll actually get done..).
A couple of days after landing back here it was time for that annual pigging out festival, also known as Christmas, when Christians go back to their Jewish roots - trap themselves in a house full of family and eat like there's no tomorrow (though, granted, it is a huge piece of pork which is the main attraction on the table).
So once again we packed ourselves into a couple of bags, and got on the train to the countryside, to spend the holiday with the in-laws. The ride there was hilarious. We were on the car reserved for dogs (there are compartments for every traveling minority on the train systems here - for people with babies, for allergics, for smokers, for pets, etc.). At any given time there were at least 9 dogs around us, including at one point a HUGE Great Dane, all of them completely miserable and petrified. Poor cute things. Except for the ugly little Bulldog. Those aren't cute. Ever. They walk around like mean little bullies with their tiny legs and huge eyes, growling. Blechs.
The following 3 days were a whirlwind of grandparents, uncles, aunts, god parents, siblings, chocolate, coffee, card games, Rummycube, Christmas music, candles, and a big fat pig's leg. These were followed by another day or two of just hanging around the house, sitting by the fire, waiting for snow, reading a book (On Beauty by Zadie Smith, BTW, didn't have a chance to add it to the list, and since I only have a few pages left I'm not going to bother. It's good, I recommend it. You might notice though that Narnia is finally off the list - I had left it in Helsinki, and now that we're back from Brussels I finally got to read the last book.). Still no snow, in case you're wondering.
Today we are back home, and now I'm sitting here, in front of a ridiculously large TV, which is taunting me to spend money I don't have on a games console. A Playstation maybe? Doesn't really matter, I can't afford it anyway..
